Black and Chocolate English Orpingtons.
Our Orpington flock comprises both Black and Chocolate English Orpingtons. Hens are black and chocolate in color. Our current rooster is Black and carries the Chocolate gene. This means that their chicks will hatch in both black and chocolate. The black roosters may be split to chocolate, or they may be pure black roosters.
English Orpingtons are large, hardy birds. The roosters dress out to a nice 3-4# table bird at 22 weeks old, making Orpingtons an excellent dual-purpose bird for backyard flocks.
The hens begin laying around 22 weeks and are good layers of medium brown eggs. Many of the hens in my Orpington flock also lay the beautiful speckled eggs shown above.
Buy English Orpington Chicks or Hatching Eggs
During the early spring through late summer months, we have Chocolate and Black English Orpington hatching eggs and chicks available for purchase.
Please understand that you will get BOTH Black and Chocolate chicks in your order. Black roosters may or may not carry the chocolate gene.
All orders must be prepaid. To order either chicks or eggs, you will contact our farm first, and we’ll let you know the expected time frame, finalize your order, and send an invoice via PayPal, or set up a custom item in our shop for you to purchase.
Our Pricing
Hatching eggs are $50 a dozen if you pick them up from the farm. During favorable weather, we ship eggs for $75 a dozen.
Chicks are $7 each. A minimum of 10 chicks must be ordered (can be any of our available breeds) for shipping. Shipping fees are $55 for a maximum of 25 chicks.
Chicks will not be shipped if the weather is not favorable.
*We guarantee “live on arrival chicks” for 24 hours thereafter. Chicks that pass in the first 24 hours will be refunded (we do not refund extra chicks sent). A photo is required for the refund to be processed. Shipping will not be refunded.
*Eggs or chicks will be shipped at the time agreed upon after payment is received. If, for some reason, a hatch goes awry and the number of chicks you ordered isn’t available, we will either offer any of our other available chicks in replacement, OR we can refund you for the missing chicks.
If the order drops below the minimum for shipping, we will need to either substitute a different breed or we can cancel your entire order. You will be notified before chicks or eggs ship and given a tracking number as well.
